How many of us are guilty of criticizing ourselves at every step now and then? I could have seen a pool of raised hands had I asked this question face-to-face.
Since childhood, or maybe right from our inception, we are trained to push ourselves mercilessly. To beat ourselves up for being ‘smart’ in society. This is not doing us any good.
Even if we reach our goals, happiness becomes a fleeting companion. Health is degrading. And, we suffer from self-doubt. Many have low self-esteem, hidden deep inside them, even though their outer mask is banging loudly to display their worth.
We must respond to what our body tells us. It is better to slow down when the body begs for rest and needs to relax. Pause and Restart is not a matter of shame but the Masterstroke to win in any domain of life.
Our Body Can Hear Us & Read Our Thoughts
Our body is a living being. It can sense every word expressing doubts, criticisms, and disgust we use for ourselves and entertain in our minds. It gets discouraged and depressed paving the way for diseases and deformities. Yes, it happens.
My legs are so ugly!
My physical features are not attractive!
Oh, I am such a loser!
I am stupid.
I’m not strong enough.
I’m not beautiful enough.
I am not tall enough.
I hate myself for getting older.
I am not smart enough.
I am feeling sick but I will keep working.
I will force my body to the extreme to achieve my goals
I will starve my body to become slim within the shortest possible timeframe.
I’m not happy with myself.
I don’t appear smart in anything I wear.
My body fails me.
My body disappoints me.
I’m ashamed of myself for my looks.
All these self-derogatory remarks and thoughts cast a negative impact on our bodies and minds.
Will you be cooperative with a person who is always disgusted with you and condemns you?
Choose to Be Grateful for Your Body
Your body shelters your soul and allows you to have worldly experiences. Be grateful for how each of your internal organs and external body parts are continuously working round-the-clock to support your existence in this universe.
It can also cause you pain if you keep a hostile attitude to it and keep torturing it in the name of being a perfectionist or over-ambitious.
Ignoring its cry for help for a longer time can make you weep tears of regret later.
Treat It Nicely When You Still Have Time
It is important to listen to your body and treat it nicely when you still have time.
1) Take rest when you need to.
2)Relax your body and mind to help it revitalise.
3)If you are feeling unwell take a break from whatever you are doing and seek help to detect the root cause of the discomfort to address it properly.
4)Eat whatever you like but also keep in mind how your body is reacting to it.
5)Show love to your body by claiming happily how grateful you are to every part of your physical form.
6)Stand before a mirror and tell yourself that you are healthy and you love every inch of your body.
7)All forms of exercise are not suitable for you. Chalk out a personalized exercise routine.
8)Push the horizon sensibly and in a disciplined way. Rigorously pushing your physical limits to get results instantly often invites serious consequences.
9)Embrace natural remedies to protect your body from harmful chemicals as much as possible.
10)Stop criticizing others for their physical shapes, size and whatever it might be.
11)Discouraging criticism of others will also help you gladly accept yourself the way you are.
12)Take risks where it is Necessary to Improve Yourself and not to inflate your ego. It brings no good results but only disasters.
13) Take your meal on time. If you need to pause your work for it, do it happily and eat time.
14) Don’t weaken your immunity system by popping pills to tackle every minor physical discomfort. Give the body the scope to tackle it on its own
Without A Body You are Just A Soul
Our soul has chosen our body to enter this world and live a human life. The day our body stops co-ordinating with our soul and our mind, we will get nothing but the Respect for the Dead. It is the naked truth!
An intellectual mind suffocates in an unhealthy body. Awards and achievements don’t appeal to a bedridden body. Paying a heavy medical bill doesn’t guarantee sustaining life in your body.
Wrapping up
Treat your body as gently as you would treat your best buddy. In return your body will start supporting you as its buddy and help you go ahead with a steady step in your life and achieve everything you want.
No amount of the riches in the world and other reasons can make you happy if your body becomes hostile to you. Choose to befriend your body and treat it gently. It will attune you to the higher things in your life that the Universe can offer you.
